Filmography

• 1972 – 1977: University Cape Town, Performers Degree, Speech and Drama, Little Theatre. Subjects: Voice Production, Dance, English, Phonetics, History of Theatre, Stage Management, Set Design, Make-Up, Acting, Philosophy.
• 1973:  Trev was selected by dance guru Tessa Marwick to go to Johannesburg with 20 Capetonian actors to present an experimental Zen play (Ten Bulls) at the new Market Theatre, the offshoot from the SPACE.
• 1974: Guerrilla Theatre was performed by Trev, Vincent Ebrahim (BBC – The Kumars) and Marcel Van Heerden atop a 20-meter high Dutch gable on the Hiddingh Hall campus, central Cape Town. Thousands of Apartheid stormtrooper police lined up outside the gates of the campus, just below us, preparing to enter, batter students unconscious, and take control of the rioting campus.
• 1978 – 79. Stage Manager CAPAB. Large touring company. Classic English and French Comedy plays (George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion,  Moliere’s Tartuffe) and avante garde  Samuel Beckett, Dario Fo, and more.
• 1980. Designed and built set for small feature film, NGAKA, by Heyns Films.

• 1979 -1980. Best Film school in Western Canada. Hands-on production, made about ten 16mm films. Teachers: distinguished Canadian filmmakers. Influenced by Montreal, San Francisco and Los Angeles filmmaking, this school was the embryo to develop Canadian talent.
• Subjects: History of Film, Photography, Film Production and Editing.
• Trev joined Community TV Vancouver and learned how to be a cameraman. He used Super 8 mm film to make a documentary about Commercial Road, Vancouver, an Italian area filled with the rich social life of Italian immigrants. This was broadcast. He videoed numerous events as a voluntary cameraman and learned the craft.
• He wrote and directed a short film: Tales of Nachman.

1981: AD Department: “Kill and Kill Again”. 35 mm feature. Director Ivan Hall. Global box office hit.

Assistant Editor 35 mm TV Commercials: Trevor Hill Post Production. Worked for Joburg’s premier editing outfit, in the golden age of TVC, for celebrated Director/ Cinematographers Lesliec Dektor and Peter Heath. Leslie opened Peterman Dektor in LA, regarded as the best TVC cameraman in LA,  with his Levi jeans ads in the Smithsonian museum.

1982: Joined SABC TV as Assistant Editor.

• 1982 – 1987. SABC TV was set up by BBC. Trev was part of the 16 mm Editing department which followed BBC TV methods. Onset Editor, 16mm, CHILDREN’s ISLAND, TV Series. Children’s drama with British child actors, Israeli Director and Cinematographer.
• Appointed Editor VIDEO 2, Teenage Chat/Magazine show based on BBC TV’s BLUE PETER. Edited 150 segments, 5 minutes each.
• Edited numerous Documentaries, Sports and Variety films.

• 1989 – 2000. As the founder of TV production company Stonehenge Media, Trev wrote, directed and produced about 250 segments, plus two documentaries, for TV. This included work for Era – a Zulu Women’s Show; Rise up and Read, a literacy show; Collage, a mainstream Art show; Artworks, an alternative Art show. Trev produced a short film as part of South Africa’s first-ever elections.
• 1996: Documentary for Religion SABC TV, “Millennial Madness”.
• 1996: Documentary: Dancing with Dolphins.

• 2000 – 2018. Numerous Corporate, Government, Community, Health, Mining, Construction, Dance and Wedding videos have been produced. Too many to list here. Request a list if you need it. A few: World Health Organisation, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Subway, Campari, Johnson & Johnson , Covidien, Softlink, Property Council of Australia, Silver Chef, Go Getta, Vale, The Piling Contractors & Gutta Filta.

Major Health Projects for Federal, State Governments and QUT & UQ Universities

Federal Government – Exercise Cumpstone. We filmed a training exercise at airport, clinics and emergency community shelters. Purpose: to train State Health Departments in dealing with a SARS pandemic.

“QUT’s Faculty of Health worked with Paramount Video on two projects in 2006: The Working With Older people website and the Multidisciplinary website. These are both interactive teaching websites. The former is a large national website that will be accessed by nurses and nursing students across the country. QLD Health – ICF (The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health)

A 50 min DVD – three case studies (one person with spinal cord injury, one with brain stem injury and one with osteoarthritis and multiple joint replacements). The DVD illustrates how the principles of the ICF (World Health Organisation) are applied.

QLD Health – ABIOS (Acquired Brain Injury Outreach Service)

We have produced five case studies – three with indigenous people. These DVD’s were produced to assist people with brain injury in Queensland, their families and carers to achieve an improved quality of life and community integration through increased independence, choice, opportunity and access to appropriate and responsive services.

QUT – School of Nursing

Various Case studies, including a farmer, with a spinal cord injury. How these patients build a new life helped by multidisciplinary teams using the MAGPIE framework. Purpose: student nurses learn from text books and lectures – these films take them out the lecture room into the real world.

“When we started making the DVD we had no experience or understanding of the process but working with such an experienced team made it all a lot easier. Once the DVD was completed we asked students to comment on the utility of the DVD and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The DVD worked well for its intended purpose which was to illuminate the core skills, values and knowledge associated with nursing in the community context. The DVD also appeared to be a beneficial learning and teaching tool across a broad cohort of student”.

QUT- School of Nursing : How to Recover from a Heart Attack and take preventative actions to stop further attacks – for diabetes patients

Three fifteen minute dramatized stories – a senior male and female, a senior Aboriginal woman. The idea is that viewers will identify with a character and change their lifestyle. The key is to give patients a simple plan and encourage them to use it by showing “real people” who have refocused their lifestyle.

This DVD has the potential to alter the risk of heart attacks by thousands of diabetes patients, saving their lives and saving the State countless dollars in medical expenses.

QUT – School of Psychology – Training DVD’s

We produced 10 hours of material for QUT Psychology Honors Students. Each DVD illustrated a different therapy technique. All sessions were filmed with 2 cameras.

Various Health Professionals were interviewed about the best way to care for Aboriginal patients diagnosed with cancer. These interviews are included in a web based resource.

Qld Health (Allied Health Clinical Education and Training Unit)

Filmed four case studies illustrating the benefits of using Assistants in the Allied Health arena. We filmed Assistants at the Sonography Department. Princess Alexandra Hospital, the Toowoomba Adult Rehabilitation Services (TARS), Toowoomba Hospital, the Social Work Department at the Mater hospital and Dietetics Department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dementia can affect people’s ability to connect and interact with important people in their lives.

Music can help people with dementia to engage in meaningful exercises with family members and friends.

Meaningful Musical Moments is designed to equip family members with strategies that will help facilitate rewarding times of being together with their loved one who has dementia.

This educational package presents demonstrations of how to choose and use music from your own music collection to create opportunities to enjoy quality time together.
